Hubbard created a WAR of Scientology and Scientologists against a vast number of perceived ENEMIES.
It worked as a short term tactic. But as a general, he goofed the floof
on the long term strategy.
Why? Because, like all human beings, Hubbard (and his successors) had BLIND SPOTS. These are normally remedied fast in any good military or organization because a LOT of brilliant minds collaborate for far greater advantage than one monomaniacal individual.
EXAMPLE: In World War II while millions of troops fought on several fronts (Europe, Pacific, etc.) another group figured out how to make an atomic weapon. Still another group planned a massive scale Normandy invasion. And there were many, many more groups that did likewise.
Since Hubbard declared himself to be Buddha and the infallible word of truth and viciously attacked anyone who tried to contribute anything that didn't have his name and picture emblazoned on it, he never got the help he so badly needed to make a sane organization.
Thus, in the war of Scn versus former S.O. members who came forward to tell the truth about institutionalized brutality at the hands of Miscavige, there was a natural ambush laid which CoS was not only unable to AVOID....it was entirely unaware of the obvious ambush or even the POSSIBILITY of an ambush.
The St. Pete Times baited Hubbard's faithful with just four (4) DECLARATIONS. Scn responded in the most predictable way possible.
They did the same as they did when Time Magazine ran an expose. They printed up outrageous volumes of Dead Agent packs, USA Today Full-Page Ads and the like.
So, they did it again.
But, waiting for them was a Nuclear Weapon.
A quick avalanche of fresh new Testimonials and Declarations and filmed interviews was released in the "second wave". Scn was pathetically decimated on the battlefield without even the whimper of a response. (they did feebly manage to offer up, "hey! we already told you EVERYONE BUT US is crazy and evil, we don't need to say it again!"
The St. Pete Times did not ambush Scientology.
Scientology/DM was ambushed by the inevitable erosion of lies culminating in an onslaught of TRUTH.
DM arrogantly (and delusionally) believed he could personally cast a shadow across the light of day to hide a mountain of evil deeds.
Like Hubbard, DM never learns.
