Carried over from the Holosync thread where I said:
I studied Napolean Hill after being declared an SP. It was one of many things I looked at. It is a modern (relatively) version of ancient metaphysical magic. The Rosicrucians (which Hubbard studied) have this as part of their teachings and they claim to go back to ancient Egypt. Several other early 20th century writers used this technique, including Claude M Bristol (where do you think Hubbard got the idea of affirmations and postulates from?)
Hubbard and as far as I remember, Napoleon Hill omitted an important final step when they squirrelled older metaphysical affirmation techniques. Hubbard omitted it because he was a left-hand magician and so his goal was the empowering the self (see my post http://www.forum.exscn.net/showpost....7&postcount=12) I think Hill just duplicated a common misunderstanding of modern metaphysicians.
I used a version of affirmations to sort my ruined life out and I attained financial affluence from using this rosicrucian technique. So I wouldn't belittle it, but as regards Holosync, all I was saying was that a quietened mind doesn't need positive affirmations, which like negative ones are additives to the being (to put it in Scn terms).
The way affirmations worked for me and the final step as per older metaphysical techniques is to also let go of the affirmation, to release it into the universe or Cosmic and that the Cosmic will then look after you because all is well and as it should be anyway!
Now that is magic! Deep, deep magic!
But it is right-handed, not black, hubbard magic! Remember, the Rosicrucian goal is Cosmic Consciousness (right handed magic). Ego protectors and ego empowerers have to drop the final step of affirmations because they are on the left-hand path.
And Colleen said:
When you said that a breeze entered the room, a refreshing "AHA" type of breeze. Yes, reach and then throw it away. Maybe like throwing you bread upon the waters.
My problem is I don't know how to put my personal affirmation into words.
Do affirmations, like postulates, need to be carefully worded, or you just might get what you say?
Do you have a link to the right-handed tech of affirmations?
Bristol's most famous book is "The Magic of Believing: The Science of Setting Your Goal and Then Reaching It"
Hill's book is "Think and Grow Rich"
They are modern-day metaphysical works that probably influenced Hubbard. These ideas were really popular in the years before Hubbard developed his version.
The definitions of left and right hand magic are referred to here http://www.forum.exscn.net/showpost.php?p=69707&postcount=12
So that is the context for this thread.
Colleen, I don't have a reference for right-handed affirmation tech. A google search may bring up something. The Rosicrucian monograph teachings are kept confidential and their affirmation technique is not revealed until after several years study and what I write here is my interpretation of it and synthesis with other right-hand techniques. It is what worked for me.
A good book is "Happiness is Free" by Lester Levinson, who was declared by Ron for having the audacity to show people how easy Releasing is!
The magic techniques I use are right-handed. I would not knowingly recommend left-handed techniques.
So this is how I did it.
The affirmation is more a whole concept rather than words, but words are used to visualise the concept. So yes the words are important as you will tend to get what you name.
The wording should be positive and in the now with the thing already achieved.
So if you feel unhappy, the affirmation could be "I am happy"
If you want more money the affirmation could be "I have an abundance of money"
I've seen people agonise over the correct wording at Sedona Method seminars, for example. So I don't think you should spend too long getting the "right" wording - you can always tweak it or improve it later anyway!
Some people like to be specific like: "I have an income of £100,000 a year". I think that is a mistake, as it puts a finite figure on the goal. Will you fail to achieve the goal if you earn only £90,000 or even fail if you earn £200,000?
So do the best you can to word the goal positively, not limited, and as a done, now achieved thing.
It shouldn't be a negative or getting-rid-of thing like "I no longer have headaches" but positive like "my head feels wonderful"
Most affirmation techniques take the affirmation and visualise it or repeat it to implant the affirmation. That's not what I did. I use releasing.
So you take the affirmation and say it to yourself. If any negative feelings come up in reponse, locate the feeling, let it be there without resisting it, see if it manifests any sensations in your body. See if you can let the feeling go. If you can't let it go, allow yourself to hold onto it and hold on even tighter and even tighter still until you notice that it has gone. (That is a release)
Repeat the affirmation and let go of any feelings stirred up in response. They can be sensations or emotions or beliefs, doesn't matter, just let them go as best you can.
After the wording doesn't produce too much reaction. Now visualise what it is like to have achieved the goal. what is life like having achieved it? Imagine it visually or however you best visualise things, but visualise it as completely as possible.
Any feelings or negativity that gets stirred up, just release them as best you can, as above.
Keep visualising the achieved thing. If it is abundance of money, visualise paying your bills as soon as they arrive, visualise a positive bank balance, visualise not fearing the arrival of the morning post. If it is "I am happy" then visualise how you are with other people now, how are they with you? Be specific in your visualisation. If you are visualising your head feeling wonderful, well how is the rest of life as a result of that?
Negaitive feelings and emotions and beliefs will be generated as you visualise the goal. so just let them be, let them go just as best you can and return to visualising the goal.
Eventually when the visualisation has stirred things up and you have released them, you will start to feel excited, The goal being visualised will strart to feel like it is really there, really achieved. Keep visualising and releasing until you feel no counter-intention or you feel exhilerated and excited.
Now let the goal go! Just surrender it to the universe or the Cosmos or what ever you conceive the Allness to be. This is the magic. The earlier stuff was just a process, this is the esoteric secret that most systems don't tell you. Let the goal go. If you were released on it, you probably can let it go pretty easily. But if you find you don't want the goal to go, are there still any counter-feelings that it stirs up? if there are just release them.
If it is rather that the goal is so beautiful or the visualisation is so wonderful that you don't want to let go of it, well ok, hold onto it and hold onto it even harder and even harder still and now, just for now, could you let it go?
That's the affirmation or goal process. Go about your life and the Cosmos will send you responses to your affirmation, opportunities will arise or wonderful things will just happen, as if by magic. For you are one with the All and the All is with you, How could it be otherwise?
Life, being what it is, you will feel the desire for the goal again or notice an apparant failure. No problem, just visualise the goal again and release the counter-feelings and negativity and when you feel excited, exhilerated or willing to have the goal without reservaton, let it go! Surrender it, give it up to the universe and go about your day.
That's what I did and almost without me noticing, complete pennilessnes turned into more than sufficient abundance. One day I suddenly realised my goal had been achieved and my affirmation had worked!
It is the striving that prevents us. The effort and resistence. The musts and the must-nots that destroy our lives. And of course the really amusing thing, in case you haven't spotted it, is that if the goal isn't achieved, you wouldn't care, because you've released on it anyway! yet, somehow affirmations run like this do tend to get manifested thanks to the generous miracle of life! :wink2:
