As wonderful as the coverage is, as the UK day nears an end I am disheartened to see only minor UK press so far.

...It is, afterall, a "global" scam. :whistling:

No, The Times has covered it. The article is "subscription only" at this point but The Australian has a story taken from The Times:

Yes, and google is slow to add the articles to it's news search engine on this, for some reason. I am finding some on a general google search.

Here's another one just put into the news search engine:
FBI probing allegations of human trafficking and enslavement in scientology ... ( New York Daily News - Helen Kennedy )
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nat...king_and_enslavement_in_scientology_repo.html

They have a poll up, lol:

Thank you for voting.

Do you believe the allegations against the church?

Yes. It always seemed like a strange church. 95%
No. I think the New Yorker is way off base. 5%
I have no idea. 0%

Maybe Google News likes me /shrug :)

While I am not a "man the 'poons" type of person, I do feel obliged to inform the online presences of the UK News channels of this story.

Sky News has been Emailed.

MAN THE POONS!!!!!

Repeat this 100 times,
Only then will you be the most able communicator on the planet....

This article is another thinly veiled tabloid piece repeating old and new rumors from people with an axe to grind with the Church of Scientology. The New Yorker author Lawrence Wright could not come up with a single line that has not been discarded as the work of fanatic anti-religionists a long time ago. This piece actually sheds a new light on him as a researcher and writer. How much does his obvious hate against religion taint his judgment? This piece has been written by someone with a deep-set hatred against religion and spirituality. Just like the Hollywood dude Haggis, who openly confesses that he makes a living putting his personal life traumata in movie scripts, Lawrence Wright lives his anti-religious hatred in writing one-track minded articles and books. The New Yorker, putting on tabloid colors for a moment, has allowed him to air his therapy sessions and that is their choice but one really has to ask: I don't really want to waste my time reading something like this.

No.

Don't let your wishes cloud your perception. The Church is still there. They are still suckering people into their midst and draining them of everything while promising them everything.

People need to get used to the idea that some infections cannot be cured, the can only be monitored and kept in remission.

Nice analogy. I also like the "weed" one. While the Anon vs Scientology internet campain is largely complete - the garden has been dug over and is pretty much clear - now you've gotta keep on eye on the straying weeds and unwelcome insects. Speaking of which, are people still clearing Craigs List?

There will always be suckers, just look at all the other garbage people buy, but can you say that you have gotten involved with Scientology if the information which is readily available today was readily available when you got involved with it?

Here's the Mail: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...probe-alleged-human-trafficking.html?ITO=1490

The Times has a story. It says "Scientology ‘under investigation by FBI’ FBI to investigate Church of Scientology after former members alleged that they were subjected to mental and physical abuse" but the rest is only available by subscription.

Here's the Independent's article: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...sts-outraged-by-defectors-claims-2207428.html

Nothing in the Grauniad or the Telegraph.

I didn't think it worthwhile to check the redtops, or Nuts. :)

Advanced apologies for possibly derailing a valuable thread... /delete or move it

IMHO the Gawker tease then the NewYorker piece are very important pieces of journalistic integrity.

Could either of those pieces have been written in, say, 2005?

Nothing may come of the "FBI" slant, but these articles must be archived before they fall into News-Obscurity.

/RantOff

EDIT: I now see your link to The Independant D.O.F. , thanks

I love this article. Sure shows what liars Tommy Davis and his mom and LRH are. Makes the CoS look really stupid.
